Blackberry Sync First Time Setup
July 20, 2009 by admin
The biggest question our technical support department receives, besides unscrubbed contact CSV files, is what order should I sync my blackberry. Typically this question occurs as a result of 3 way syncing between Realtiva, Outlook, and your Blackberry Device. So lets walk you thru a simple scenario that I think illustrates a best practice with respect syncing all three devices for the first time and most especially a new wireless device right out of the box. This scenario assumes you have already downloaded the appropriate plugins to Microsoft Outlook and you Blackberry for syncing.
Step One: Download the Contacts CSV file from Outlook to your Desktop. Open it up and clean it up with respect to duplicates and missing data. Save it. This is you root file for syncing and now also you back up file.
Step 2: Erase all your contacts in Outlook. Re-import your Clean CSV file from your desktop into Outlook. This is the Contacts CSV from step one.
Step 3: Use the Blackberry software that came with you device to sync Outlook. Use the USB cable to connect your BB to your computer to do so. This is important because if you do not; your blackberry may not format/structure all of the contact data fields that are in Microsoft Outlook correctly in your BB. Your BB may import in all contact fields except email addresses or variations because the naming conventions are different.
Step 4:
Now that you have all your contacts synced in Outlook and your phone; Go ahead and sync your phone with realtiva.com or sync Outlook with Realtiva.com.
Now you are all synced up. Now you should be able to sync back and forth with ease and with now more wires!!
End.
