The best practice for email message width is no more than 600 pixels wide. What was interesting about the data compiled was that 100% fluid was one of the least used techniques.  With more than 1 out 5 messages hitting mobile devices this makes a lot of sense.

So remember to keep your designs thin and streamlined.  The wider the emails, the more difficult they are to read especially when horizontal scroll bars come into play.
