Installing the Sync Utility

First step is to download the sync utility and install it. To access the download and install please follow these steps:

1. Log in to Realtiva.com
2. Click “Realtiva Mail” in the upper right hand corner of your browser.
3. Click the “Settings” icon in the top navigation.
4. Click “Realtiva Mail Client Utilities” in the left navigation.
5. Click “Download” titled “SmarterMail Sync for Outlook 2003 and above”
6. Double click on your download to install. It will automatically install directly into Outlook.

Setting Up Sync Utility in Outlook

Before you can synchronize any Realtiva account with Outlook using Sync Utility, you must first set them up in the sync tool. This will provide the tool with the information it needs to connect to your Realtiva account online.

To manage your accounts first open Microsoft Outlook. Click on the SmarterMail Sync toolbar item, and choose Account Settings from the menu.

Accounts need the following information:

  • Name – Enter a friendly name to identify this account.
  • SmarterMail URL – Type the full URL of your Realtiva webmail interface into this dialog.
    For example, http://mail.realtiva.com, or http://mail.yourdomainname.com if you have dedicated mail services with Realtiva.
  • Email Address – Enter your full email address.
  • Password – Type the password for your Realtiva account.
  • Synchronization – Check the boxes for the items you wish to synchronize.  If you wish to sync to a non-default calendar, task list, or contact list, click on the “…” button next to it.

You can use the Test button to ensure that the connection works, and use the Next button to store the information.
